I mentioned a while back that I was of the opinion that the Daytona Motorsports Group's plans for the AMA Superbike series would have an impact on the ability of American racing fans to see the hottest young American riders competing in our national series. I gleaned at least the beginnings of this idea, if not the idea in it's entirety, from the host of the ever-insightful and entertaining motorcycle roadracing podcast Rumblestrip Radio, but it appears that The Duke and I aren't the only ones thinking this. AMA Superbike Factory Yamaha pilot Jason DiSalvo said virtually the same thing to a Alabama newspaper a few days ago, as reported by Superbike Planet.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really hope the manufacturers and the DMG can settle their differences and get this all sorted out before the series dies. AMA Superbike hasn't been the greatest of series in the last few years but it's what we've got and I'll be depressed if we lose it.
